It was raining that night
Was a hole in the roof
Someone was watching
But I've got no proof
The newspaper said
He had come back to town
Looking for something
Before it was found
It was late in the spring
A long time ago
He took off like a warm wind
for reasons unkownn
But things had gone missing
Sometimes people, too
But that was something
We all got used to

I don't know why we're talking
I don't know why you are here
With the moon in your eyes
You've been walking
And the wind keeps my words
From your ears, oh yeah

It wasn't the gold
That was hid in the ground
Or the fine looking women
That worked in the town
A cold-hearted feeling
It hung in the air
It seemd to hit everyone
But nobody cared
Years had gone by
And then one bright day
He strolled into town
Like he'd never been away
He said, "Do unto others,
before they can do
Those dirty deeds
They're gonna do to you"

He told a story
Sent shivers throught the room
About how all the good things
Are gone far too soon
Then he picked up the bag
His jacket and hat
He left with a smile
And disappeared just like that
