Burn the whole house down

Written by:
Frank Carillo.
Track released on:
Frank Carillo and the Bandoleros "Someday" album.

I can hear the black crow call
From the top of the city hall
If you are aware at all
You better listen for the sound
When they burn the whole house down

From hell men up to fancy gents
some twisted minds and malcontents
Selling smiles, collecting rents
In every town
They're gonna burn the whole house down

The globe is spinning on the edge
A jumper's standing on the ledge
I lost my wallet in the hedge
The beams are burning in the church
The vultures nestle on their perch
You've gone and left me in the lurch again

Big shot don't know how it feels
To have to lick at someone's heels
Just to try and get a meal
Better take a look around
Before they burn the whole house down

Ashes floating in the air
It's getting hot but no one cares
I should be bound for anywhere
You can watch the ships come in
The engines making quite a din
They're gonna ask you where you've been again

I can hear the black crow call
From the top of the city hall
If you are aware at all
You better listen for the sound
When they burn the whole house down
