The Bluebird is gone

Written by:
Frank Carillo
Track released on:
Frank Carillo and the Bandoleros "Bad out there" album.

Oh Sweet Maddy, he's gone
He took all the words he had in his head
Oh dead Maddy he's gone
I'll never forget the words that he said

He sang like a bluebird
Most noble of creatures
We hung on each melody
The best of all teachers
They still shine on brightly
But why did he leave you alone

I hear there's a place
Where old soldiers go to rest for a while
Do you think there's a place
Where the bluebird can sing
With no trouble, no trials

I hear he sat by the window and stared into nothing
All the while his fingers were idly drumming
Keeping time to the music that nobody else could hear

Tell me where has he gone ?
Is he hiding behing your eyes and your smile
Tell me, What's going on?
You know a miss is as good as a mile

And I miss all the music that flowed like a river
Down through the streets of North London that summer
With a half-pack of Embassys
Glad to be living the dream
Jimmy, where have you gone ?
