Across the river

I don't want to go
Across the river
I don't want to go
Where the sunlight ends
I don't want to go
Across the river
I know what's waiting
Around the bend

There something creeping
through my veins
I feel unlucky and I'm feeling strange
A Little warning goes a long, long way
And I found out on that very last day
Make up your mind he said
with a wicked grin
Either way you turn you're losin'
the dark horse you're riding
follows the trail of sin
And across the river doom is rulin'

Don't want to ride the ship to nowhere
Too many things that can go wrong
The mistry darkness at the shoreline
It makes me shiver
And the night's so long

Fill up my glass to overflowing
My eyes are tired
And my hand it shakes
She had a dress on
you could see right through it
but I'm not gonna follow
be a big mistake

Make me an offer I can't refuse
And I'll take you across the river
I'm the only one who knows
what's waitin' for you there
And over there repent won't do
for a sinner
Temptation always hides in shadows
Some dark eyed devil
Took my love away
I see something walking
right beside her
That's looking like an angel
That could never pray

You've come to a dicission
The dark eyed devil said
You know this ain't no ordinary ferry
You sacrifice your life
for an angel of love
And in hell there's no sanctuary
