2008 Media Guide review "Someday"

Carillo has always had the upper hand when it comes to picking the right songs and combining them with mind altering performances. Someday is no different. The result is a 14 song collection of powerhouse blue collar, Roots Rock. It's easy to get lost in the lyrics on Someday if you haven't already gotten lost in the music. On the "Petty"-esque rocker "Roll The Bones" Carillo sings, "I'll be holing up in Chelsea out by the Old Kings Road and the barmaid there is still my one true love. You know she never asks for nothin', just to pay her what I owe." The album plays like an Agatha Christie novel chock full of shady characters, dirty deals, betrayal, exotic locales and off beat humor. But the music is viral and blends elements from a kaleidoscope of musical styles. From the dirge like feel of "Darkness Everywhere" to the honky tonk swill of "Gotta Be You" to the Jersey Shore stomp of "Somebody Poisoned the Well" Carillo has something for everybody and everybody oughta be really happy with Someday. A must have for any self respecting Roots Rock radio station.
